US rapper Tay-K has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for murder, with a platinum-certified hit song he released as a fugitive being included in prosecution evidence.

Taymor McIntyre, 19, was found guilty along with six other men of the killing of Ethan Walker, in Mansfield, Texas, in July 2016. The men had intended to rob Walker and another man of drugs and money and in the subsequent home invasion, Walker was shot dead. His girlfriend testified that he’d had his hands in the air when he was killed. The Gardian Reported

Tay-K, whose real name is Taymore McIntyre, appeared in court on Tuesday where he was also fined $10,000, according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram, for his involvement in a home invasion and robbery in Mansfield, Texas that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker in 2016.

In addition, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison and a $5,000 fine on one count of aggravated robbery and to 13 years in prison and a $3,000 fine for two other counts of aggravated robbery related to the home invasion, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and WFAA reported. The sentences will run concurrently.

Taymor Travon McIntyre (born June 16, 2000), known professionally as Tay-K, is an American rapper, songwriter, musician and convicted murderer. He is best known for his hit song "The Race", which charted on the US Billboard Hot 100, reaching number in the chart and was remixed by prominent rappers such as 21 Savage, Tyga, Lil Yachty and YBN Nahmir following his arrest in Elizabeth, New Jersey after a nationwide manhunt for murder.

Born in Long Beach, California, McIntyre spent most of his childhood in Arlington, Texas after moving into a “better environment” when his father was released from prison. He began writing music at the age of 14, after joining the local hip hop group, Daytona Boyz which included fellow rappers Pimpyz and Santana Sage.

His hit song, The Race was released on July 1, 2017 after being captured by law enforcement and extradited back to Texas, the song was later certified platinum in January 2018 by the RIAA. Tay K released his debut album, Santana World on July 17, 2017 after his capture succeeding his time on the lam, the album achieved critical acclaim from fans and critics.

The single, Hard was later released on March 19, 2018 by the hip hop oriented record label No Jumper featuring Blocboy JB, the song peaked at the 14th spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

McIntyre was found guilty of murder and aggravated robbery in July 2019 and was sentenced to 55 years in prison on July 23, 2019 for his role in the robbery and murder of 21 year old, Ethan Walker in a 2017 botched robbery, home invasion and murder in Mansfield, Texas that he was placed on house arrest for, later going on the run after cutting off his ankle monitor and fleeing to New Jersey.
