The incredible moment a little West Australian girl hears for the first time with the help of a hearing aid has been shared, prompting an outpouring of heartwarming comments from viewers.

Tristan Storer, of Mollerin in the state’s Wheatbelt, shared video of his daughter, Macy, getting fitted for her hearing aid.

His wife, Laura Hutton-Storer, speaks to Macy as she sits on his lap.

“Hello beautiful girl,” she says.

“Can you hear us?”

Macy touches her ears, trying to make sense of what she’s hearing.

She becomes emotional at the sound of mum and dad speaking to her.

“It’s okay, sweetie,” her mum says.

“Can you hear me?”

She then tickles Macy’s tummy.

“Oh, she’s frightened,” Ms Hutton-Storer says.

The Hearing Australia staff put the Wiggles’ song Hot Potato on.

Macy stops, sits and listens, pondering the music she’s hearing for the first time.

Mr Storer’s video has more than 2.6 million views with people moved by Macy’s experience.

Today our youngest daughter had the sound “switched on” for the very first time. Can’t speak highly enough of the team at hearing Australia who have guided us through this journey over the last month. #oneprouddad#hearingaids.
