The woman, named only as Wang, reportedly grew angrier after repeatedly explaining the equation to her son, who was in Year 3, according to China Press.
The 36-year-old, from Hubei in Central China, said the rage left her barely able to breath, so she called her husband and told him to take her to hospital.
“I explained it to him many times but he still couldn't get it. I was so angry that I could explode. Suddenly, my heart was palpitating and I couldn't breathe properly,” she told the publication.
She was taken to Xinhua Hospital, where she was diagnosed with myocardial infarction, the scientific name for a heart attack.
Her doctor, Yang Xiaoxue, told the publication the result could have been fatal if she was any slower in receiving medical treatment.
Wang said it was not uncommon that she would get angry while helping her son with his homework, but admitted she never thought the stress might almost kill her.
