A young woman who was kicked out of school when she fell pregnant graduated with her daughter alongside her.

At the age of 15 Rachael Campey was made to leave her school when she found herself expecting a child.

Since then she has battled her way through seven different educational facilities and then "countless" jobs.

Yesterday the 21-year-old's dream came true when she graduated from Leeds Trinity University alongside her daughter Lily-Rose.

"When I found out I was pregnant with you at 14, I promised I would work non stop to give you the best childhood I could," she wrote online after accepting her counselling psychology degree.

"7/8 education systems later, countless jobs and everything life could possibly throw at us.

"Today I graduated at 21 with my 6-year-old by my side."

Rachael, from Leeds, West Yorkshire, suffers from anxiety and was nervous at the graduation ceremony.

"It was very overwhelming," she said.

"I was really anxious beforehand in case anything went wrong. I made everyone come three hours early because I'm so used to something going wrong in the education system.

"My daughter said I looked like someone from Harry Potter in my gowns. She makes me smile.

"She didn't stop smiling as soon as she stepped into uni. She waved at me from the audience. She was shouting that's my mummy. It made me cry."

Her aspirations to become a graduate began from when she first fell pregnant at just 14-years-old.
She told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I set myself the goal of a degree and to actually reach it is unbelievable to me.

"I was told to leave as they couldn’t support me and I was bounced around the education systems since that day till I landed at uni.

"So many doubted me apart from my friends and parents, I didn’t even believe in myself."

It seems that ambition runs in the family.

She added: "My daughters is very determined. She wants to become an Olympian. She has wanted that since she was two."
