1. SUGA (BTS member)

Min Yoon-gi, better known by his stage names Suga and Agust D, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Managed by Big Hit Entertainment, he debuted as a member of the South Korean pop idol group BTS in 2013. In 2016, he released his first solo mixtape, Agust D. The Korea Music Copyright Association attributes over 100 songs to Suga as a songwriter and producer, including Suran's "Wine", which peaked at number two on the Gaon Music Chart and won best Soul/R&B track of the year at the 2017 Melon Music Awards.


Suga is responsible for writing, composing, arranging, mixing, and mastering his material. Over 70 registered songs are credited to him by the Korea Music Copyright Association. He is a pianist, and produces hiphop and R&B music. His lyrics involve themes that are "full of dreams and hope," conceived with the intent of his music becoming "many people's strength." He cites Stony Skunk and Epik High as his inspirations to pursue hiphop music. Particularly, he credits the former's reggae-hiphop hybrid album Ragga Muffin (2005) and its title track for igniting his interest in the genre. In a survey conducted by Gallup Korea, Suga was ranked the 13th most preferred idol of the year for 2017. In the 2018 and 2019 surveys, he ranked 7th and 9th, respectively.

Zico debuted as the leader of the boy band Block B in 2011 and went solo in 2018.


Zico is notable for his crossover skills within the Korean hip hop scene, maintaining an underground reputation along with mainstream appeal as a Korean idol. He is a record producer of both K-pop and Korean hip hop music. He is also part of the crew Fanxy Child, which was formed by him in 2016. In 2019, he released his first full-length solo album, Thinking.

3. G-Dragon (Big Bang member)

His involvement has shaped how new idol groups interact with their music, with The Korea Times acknowledging that his "unprecedented popularity" and recognition "has inspired many young idol-wannabes to become singer-songwriters." Artists that have cited his work as an influence include Zico, Got7's BamBam, Seventeen's S.Coups, BTS' Jungkook, and Grimes, who states that K-pop, in particular G-Dragon, has influenced her musical style "more visually than anything else." Mix Nine's winner Woo Jin Young stated that G-Dragon's "This Love" inspired him to be a rapper.

RM is a baritone. In 2017, American hip-hop magazine XXL released a list entitled "10 Korean Rappers You Should Know", which included RM. Writer Peter A. Berry promises that "Rap Monster rarely fails to live up to his name." He describes the young star as "one of the region’s most dexterous rappers, capable of switching flows effortlessly as he glides across an array of diverse instrumentals."

Crystal Tai from South China Morning Post stated RM received a lot of praise for his natural flow and lyrics and that he's got some "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy mixed with Earl Sweatshirt and Chance the Rapper" in him.


In January 2020, along with fellow BTS member J-Hope, RM was promoted from associate to a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association, joining bandmate Suga who had previously been officially recognized as a full member in 2018.

He appeared in the survival program Show Me the Money 4, where he finished as series runner-up. Alongside Bobby, he is part of the hip hop duo MOBB and released the four-track album The Mobb in September 2016. He made his solo debut with studio album XX in November 2018, the lead single of which, titled "Fiancé" became a hit in South Korea, topping Gaon's Digital and Streaming charts for the month.

MONSTA X rapper Jooheon is known for his unique voice and rapping style, and one thing he's extremely talented at is rapping very, very fast. Prior to his debut with Monsta X, Joohoney was part of a project group called Nu Boyz (along with #GUN, Shownu and Wonho) formed under Starship Entertainment in August 2014. The quartet uploaded multiple mixtapes to their company's YouTube channel and performed at the opening show of Starship X concert in December 2014.


In December 2014, Starship Entertainment and Mnet launched a competition program called No.Mercy and Jooheon was selected along with six other participants (including Shownu & Wonho) as part of Starship Entertainment's new boy group Monsta X on the last episode of the show.
