Kanye West to appear on ballot in Minnesota, Idaho and Tennessee

Kanye West filed his petition to be on the ballot in Tennessee last Thursday, just before the state’s noon deadline. The billionaire rapper-turned-politician has managed to get on the 2020 presidential ballot in three more states: Idaho, Minnesota and Tennessee, adding to five states Forbes previously verified, after a string of failures in states West tried to qualify to run in, including Missouri, Wyoming, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Montana.

The secretary of state’s offices in Idaho and Minnesota confirmed Tuesday that West had officially qualified to be on the 2020 presidential ballot this November.

West filed his petition to be on the ballot in Tennessee last Thursday, just before the state’s noon deadline.

A spokeswoman for the Tennessee secretary of state’s office said at the time that officials were reviewing West’s filings to see if he met the 275-signature requirement.

Reached by The Post Wednesday, the state’s coordinator of elections confirmed that West had qualified and would be on the ballot.

West, who has been open about his diagnosis as bipolar, raised eyebrows among Democrats when it became clear that Republican operatives, including President Trump’s son-in-law and White House senior advisor Jared Kushner, were helping his campaign. In a recent Forbes interview, it was pointed out that West can’t win in 2020, raising the prospect he is running a spoiler campaign intended to hurt Democratic nominee Joe Biden. West replied, “I’m not going to argue with you. Jesus is King.” But a few hours after the story was published, West tweeted, “the goal is to win.”
